Today, after 4 days of waiting to get to the top of his to-do list, Dan finally said we were planting the flowers today.
It got off to a rocky start though. I was working online while waiting for him when suddenly I got a message that the router wasn't picking up any signals. Cox had changed the IP address again...they do that a lot, and the new router didn't automatically find it (something else on MY to-do list - figure that out). So after several phone calls to Cox we had intermittent service all day, with it finally fixed (I think).
Anyway, by that time he was frustrated to no end, his eye was still bothering him to the point that he has another appointment tomorrow morning, and it had gotten a lot colder than we'd though (and he hates cold).
We cleared all the crap we'd stored in the greenhouse, moved the big hibiscus plant in there and out of the house (I thought that would be a good idea since it was in his way working with the router). He'd worked yesterday clearing out all the weeds, etc. in the garden and put dividers behind the greenhouse where he's putting the herbs. We bought some and we're moving some from the side of the garage, ultimately to be banished from there forever.
So we got some herbs growing back there now: rosemary, basil, and parsley. We put 4 tomatoes on the side with marigolds in the corners of that section to keep the bugs away.
We had a practically dead butterfly bush by the parking lot with one pathetic sprig that was green. Dan put that in one of the black tubs. We planted a Burning Bush that we'd picked up at the thrift store a bit ago in it's place. Even in the pot it was doing pretty good! See you really can get anything at the thrift store!
We moved all the johnny jumpups out of one of the big black tubs and put them by the water pool at the front door...good thing they are low care plants! Now I have that tub to work with for the rest of my flowers. I put the impatients in the wooden deck planter yesterday since they like shade. (I do better when I don't have to bend far). I still have a couple of red geraniums, my 2 year old geranium, about 12-15 coleus and 4 each of red and white petunias. I moved some petunias I saved over winter too.
Whew! No wonder I'm tired! I'll get some photos tomorrow! I'm not walking back out tonight!
