Her name is Abby. This little 2 year old Terrier mix had spent a month in another shelter near Charlottesville VA before being transferred to Virginia Beach 3 days ago. We can’t believe that no one had claimed her before now. I guess that’s because she belongs with us.
She will be spayed on Monday morning and we are picking her up that evening. So this weekend we will be preparing for our new family member’s arrival.
All of our 4-legged children have been rescue animals, either from shelters or saved dropouts. We’ve always had outside dogs, Labs, Golden Retrievers, and Beagles. We’re very excited to enter a new world and have our first ‘house’ dog.
Abby is such a sweetheart. She’s a little shy now, but she quickly warmed up to us in the meet and greet room so we’re sure we’ll all get along fine. I’m sure I'd be shy too if I’d been in a chaotic shelter that long…the noise was crazy in there! She will have plenty of room to play and roll on the grass, and just enjoy life from here on out. We can hardly wait!
