A Duh Moment

Because it's been so hot lately I remembered something in the corner of mind about Lindsey saying her AC was not working. So I called her yesterday to see if she had gotten it fixed yet. Nope, still needs fixing. She works out of town most days so it's not really impacting her too much. And when she's home she opens the windows and turns on a fan or two. She's comfortable. I offered to loan her our window unit from the guest house, but she declined.

After talking for a few moments her cell phone died. She had to leave her comfy position in front of the fan to go into another room where she could plug in the phone...a room without a fan.

So we're talking and she's sweating, when suddenly she asks me if I have Skype or something that we could use on the computer. I have a lot of communication programs, including Skype, which I rarely use. But because she uses a company computer her options are seriously limited for security reasons. I take it Skype is on the OK list. She downloads it and suddenly we are talking on Skype and she is back in front of her window fan!

We soon had the video going  and OMG! It was so good to be able to see her (even if she was a little blurry)!

One thing that was so cool is that we could hit the share button and see each other's desk top. So I was able to pull up My CountryLane blog, that she cannot access on her business computer, and she could see it and read it as if it was on her own computer. We were able to share documents, including some projects she's been working on too. It was an awesome thing to discover.

DUH! I don't know why we didn't think of this before!!! Now when she is working out of town she will be able to call and visit with me! It will definitely help us stay in touch more often now!
