Let There Be Peace

Aw! Abby's using her stuffed little red doggie as a pillow.

We had Abby and Kitty practically nose to nose today. We've been working on getting them on speaking terms. We are gradually showing Abby that if she doesn't moves fast at the cat, then the cat will not bolt. That crazy-ass cat pretty much makes us do this; we go outside with Abby and instead of going the other way, Kitty follows up, squalling the entire time in his shrill little kitty voice.

Today, while resting in our chairs in the shade Kitty starts hollering from the bushes. Luckily for us, Abby minds very well. We quickly got Abby away from the bushes and then made her walk back a little ways towards them staying within 2 feet of us the whole time. Finally, Danny, Abby and I went back to the chairs.

I KNEW IT! Here comes Kitty, straight for us. Abby, between our chairs, obeyed our stay, be good, and no-no commands like a champ. And Tempting Kitty waltzed around us, stopping 6 feet away.

I had Danny pick up Abby; then I called Kitty over. Kitty enjoyed the attention after so much neglect in favor of our new house member. Once, while Kitty was winding back and forth around the chair legs his tail flipped right into Abby's face, leaving a stray hair on her nose. Talk about being close!

Eventually Kitty went under the little crawl space of an out building. We made Abby wait a bit and after a while we let Abby go over to sit by herself in the shade about 8 feet away from the building. As expected, Kitty soon stuck his head out from under the building and the two starred at each other for a while. Danny and I starred at them.

IT WAS ALL GOOD. They sized each other up and hopefully made a peaceful impression. Finally I walked between them as a buffer, had Danny squat down behind me and Abby came when called. Then we went into the garage and Kitty followed.

And they all said "AMEN"!
