Crocheting and Looming

I visited a nursing home on Veterans Day. While there the Activity Director said they could use some lap rugs, hats, and hand muffs and gave me a large bag of donated yarn. Later on, Hubster and I returned to participate in Christmas Caroling at the home. I took what Crochet Club members and I had made during the three week interval. In total we had 6 blankets, 8 hats, and 5 hand muffs. Granted, not many items, but it was a start. They were very happy to get the items. The Director knew someone who would appreciate the matching hat and muff set I'd made so I got to see the resident receive them. It happened to be someone who used to go to my church and she remembered me and my husband. We had a very nice unplanned visit!

I'm now experimenting with a long loom to see if I can make a blanket by running a 'horseshoe' around the loom... never quite making a complete circle. I hoped it might be faster than crocheting, but it's tedious, especially when the e-wraps bounce off.  I'm not sure I like what is produced (the tan color isn't helping either). It reminds me of the fishing nets I used to help my dad mend back in the day. Like most loom products the leading edge is rolling up so I'll need to crochet a border. I'll do a little more before deciding if I continue or not.
