Something's Better Than Nothing

I've had a pain management doctor for 15 years now. That's a long time to be dealing with arthritis, metal hips, scoliosis in two directions. I'm basically a screwed up body. About a week ago I had my very first appointment with a Chiropractor. I was nervous and excited all at the same time.

She and her husband own the practice and both participated on the evaluation. I was a large task with so many issues. I don't expect miracles in healing. After all, some body parts have been planted in their current positions for quite a long time; I'm sure they're reluctant to move. But I would like to be able to stand upright for longer than 10 minutes at a time. That's what drove me to their office. A twist and a pull occurring in April 2013 produced the "pop" from hell that makes me hurt the longer I let gravity pull me downward.

On the 2nd visit I took all my old x-rays and such, going back to 2004. That oughta give them some ideas of how things are. They were delighted to have the extra ammunition - it helps with their plan of attack. I have only had 3 appointments so far with this uphill battle and I'm already encouraged. The good news with this new endeavor is that I can get an appointment fairly easily whereas it's sometimes a 6-week wait to see my pain doc. So I'm not nearly alone in this process now.

Life  can be So frustrating. I see people who work standing up, like cashiers and such and am so jealous. If I go to a grocery store it better be for one or two items only. I seldom make it through a checkout line (God forbid someone has coupons) without having to sit. Christmas shopping?... Bah, humbug! I just get started good and then have to go sit. That happened today, but Hubster didn't hear me when I told him, and so he "lost" me while I patiently sat in a cubbyhole with a chair. Picture it - I'm not shopping, and he's circling the store looking for me and well, basically no shopping is getting done. (I think we'll do more next year through the internet).

But maybe, just maybe by next year I'll be back up to 15 minutes upright! O the joy at such a thought!
