Beyond Christmas

Christmas turned out pretty good, considering that it was kinda sad without Daddy being here. We pulled together, changed things up a bit and kept on going. We enjoyed having my Florida kids in for the holiday and my brother's father-in-law was part of the festivities as well. The ribs from Frankie's were awesome (you can't go wrong with Frankie's Place For Ribs). Lots of wonderful gifts were exchanged between loving family members before everyone went home for afternoon naps (and whatever else was on the agenda). For me, I suddenly started feeling achy over-all. Gosh I've never had anything hit me so fast before. Sick during Christmas, good grief!

I was reduced to the status of a leper, sitting out the rest of the family gatherings, instead, balled up under blankets feeling cold while fever began it's fighting work. Even with all the food available I requested some chicken soup (the best medicine). Thank you so much Hubster! Chicken soup always makes you feel better, even if it's just in your own mind.

We usually start packing up the decorations shortly after Christmas is over (because I took advantage of the helpers lingering around), but as of today my tree still glows accordingly, a giant night-light. I wonder how long it will be before we get the containers from the attic? Hubster started feeling achy yesterday evening and as I predicted, he's having a milder version of what I've had. Looks like our new year is going to be starting out under the weather.

New Year's Day is also my Dad's birthday, our first without him. He would have been 89. Those 'first year apart' milestones just keep on acoming, don't they?

Oh well... nothing ya can do but keep on keeping on and that's what we're gonna do in 2015. Looking forward to a bright new year and wishing all of you the same!
