We took a moment to stop by a thrift store yesterday. I am not a fan of going to thrift stores on Wednesday because they are usually packed with people searching for clothes marked half-off. With school starting soon this week was no exception.
I was pretty lucky, maybe because I wasn't in the school-age and little peeps clothes section. I managed to find three pairs of new jeans for just $7, so I'm very happy and it was worth stopping on a Wednesday.
Here's another thing that was cool yesterday: an elderly woman in a wheelchair and her grown daughter came in right after we did. As we wandered first isle book section I couldn't help over-hearing their conversations as the daughter was so sweet and helpful to her mother. If the mom picked up a book, daughter quickly said, "Do you want to buy it?"
The wheelchair rolled next to me and I heard a gleeful, "Oh, there's my book!" I thought to myself, well, she's found what she was looking for, and I reached up to move a heavy book on top of 'her' book. The daughter came over and exclaimed, "Oh Mom, that IS your book!"
I was stunned! The woman in the wheelchair was the actual author!
She opened the book and lovingly showed me several black and white pictures included within the pages.... "See, here's a picture of my daughter when she was little." There were several family photos included among the text. I never saw the title of the book, but I did see several references to God in there.
I was in the presence of a godly woman who had shared her testimony with the world! It makes me think, what have I done for God today?
