Things have slowed to a distinct crawl over the last few weeks; a result of my ‘bum’ knee. I’m starting to feel like a peg-leg. I’d hoped that simple rest would heal the offender after that fiasco of having a cortisone-infested needle inserted. Painful? Yes. Helpful? Not in the least! So during my visit with my primary care physician to see what she’d offer in the knee department and have my pre-op physical she determined it was surgically necessary for me to get my knee fixed before my back surgery. I now have an appointment with the Knee Guy (I had cancelled my first appointment back in February, thinking I should try lesser means than jumping to a knee surgeon right off the bat). Ah… the circle of life has brought me back to that beginning moment in time anyway.
I feel like a guest in my own home; Danny doesn’t want me to do anything but rest my knee. He’s so sweet to do everything that needs doing for me although I did sneak in a load of laundry or two.
I’ve been reading a lot more now and just finished “Enchanted” by Penelope Neri, probably one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time. If you’re into vikings, fantasy, and romance with a lot of ‘didn’t see that coming’ moments you’ll love this one! Let me know if you want it. Otherwise it’s going back to the thrift store.
In my quest to downsize that’s how my books work. I support DAV and other mission thrift stores and recycle them back again when I’m done. It keeps my book shelves clean.
I was contacted recently by a Dozier relative (yet to be connected, but strongly felt) through my genealogy website, GenThreads. It’s kinda funny…. but while looking through my files I discovered that I already had a copy of a newspaper article on this military man and his military ancestors that was published in 2007. What an honor to be contacted by him! Now to get to work making that connection through lineage!
