Birthdays have always been a recognized big deal in our family. When you're a kid that's cool, but when you're a teen it's kinda lame and dorky. Then as you get older you wish it would just fade into the background somewhere. After you get old you think how nice it is that you even have a birthday at all!
This year I opted out of the cake part after grooming a hankering for about 2 weeks of wanting a brownie. We didn't have any brownie mix at the time and I didn't want to go buy one at a restaurant when you can easily make your own. Then on grocery day we'd forget to buy the box.
Well... I got my brownie last night - a BIG ol' frosted brownie, complete with candles! Add a dab of vanilla ice cream and it was awesome! Here I am getting ready to blow out those candles.
I think Mom and Dad are listing a little, don't you? Haaaaaaaa! They were leaning away, thinking they were in the way of the camera. We all had a good laugh when we reviewed the images. The whole evening was all great fun and I am really blessed to be loved by such a good family.
