Come And Gone

The craft show I participated in at the beginning of November was really nice (even if it lasted too long). There was a variety of handmade items to choose from, not too many crochet hats (good for me), and a surprisingly good amount of visitor traffic. This was the Creeds Ruritans' first Fall craft show. They had one in the Spring, but I couldn't do that one, being a seller of winter hats.

Besides hats I had a few scarves and a box of washcloths. I sold several hats and almost all my washcloths, but no scarves. I did come home with a little profit after my booth fees (whew)!  But this was my last shot at scarves. Every time I've ever made one I just had a weird feeling about it. I knew I wasn't meant to be a scarf artisan. There are so many wonderful scarf creations online, and I know mine seem to fall way short, so why keep beating a dead horse on the off chance I would get one great product? No, I'm good at hats (and washcloths and afghans and hand muffs/warmers) so I'll stick with those for the future.

Gradually my scarves are being refurbished into other items. Some become hats, some muffs, some become parts of afghan lap rugs for the nursing home. I'm working on a lot of different nursing home items right now. Perhaps during the coming summer months I'll go back and start making hats again. I want to have a wider style selection for the next Fall craft show!
