While Dad was sick repairing the floors in the bathrooms was the last thing on anyone's mind. Since his passing a year ago 3/19, Mom has been occupied with taking care of business.
A few months ago, along with a new paint job in her bedroom, her private bath was taken down to the studs. Now everything is new and safe and not falling apart. A few weeks ago they began work on the other public bath. This is where it stands today:
Anyone who's ever been there might recognize that the paneling is part of the den, the bricks are the bathroom, and the white walls belong in a bedroom. It's quite a mess. The dirt on the ground is visible today, but getting closed up as I write.
Mom's kitchen is divided from the den with sheets of plastic, hung to stop all the white plaster dust from invading every nook and cranny. Luckily, it's now warming up outside. You can imagine it's been pretty chilly in there.
I think she's had a good time picking out new fixtures, tile, flooring, and colors. A lot has changed from when she did it before back in the 60s. It's been exciting to see things getting upgraded for all of us.
The moral of the story is to take care of whatever tiny leaks you have before they turns into a disaster!
