Here For You; Here For Me

I have no manual on how to handle when a grown child distances themselves. I'm facing this now. I don't have answers as to why. They could be mad, or in trouble, or hiding something. It could be that they are just very busy and don't realize how much time has passed. Or it could be that I'm just used to close family ties and not everyone feels that way; it's simply no big deal for them to be out of touch for a length of time.

Recently, while leaving another message on a robotic voice mail, saying press 1 to send a fax I don't have or press 2 for more options, I was thinking to myself that "no matter what my child has done, or feels, or if they need help... no matter what it could be.... it wouldn't matter to me. My message I left was, "I'm always here for you."

My next thought was, "Wow - isn't that the same thing that Jesus says?" Isn't He always here for us and we're the ones who turn away? Just like a parent who loves their child no matter what, Jesus always loves us. He forgives us as soon as we ask and it's over and forgotten immediately.

I like that. I like knowing He's permanently here for me, no matter what.
