Yesterday felt like Saturday so that means that today is a free day! Yesterday Melissa came home for Randy's birthday, Lindsey came home early, and we went to his house and had a soup birthday party with neighbors. (photos are on the website). All that made Saturday obsolete, a free day.
Surprise, surprise! Lindsey woke up early this morning. I'd thought the girls would stay up late last night and sleep in. I'd just gone out to the office to get caught up on some internet activity when here she came. Next thing I knew we'd looked up yard sales and while she made maps and planned a route I went back inside to start bacon.
A quick breakfast and off we went! We have such a good time treasure hunting for those deals that no one else can see. Today we bought mostly books of all things. We found several kids' pop up books which do well on ebay. Several of the homes we went to were a bust though; one lady's sign said it was cancelled because she had the flu, another because they'd sold everything. I guess that was good for them, bad for us driving around. So we finally went to the Goodwill. There we weren't so frugal and spent too much, but hopefully we can just consider it an investment and we will do well online with our resale. It's all in good fun though! We did hand out some of our consignment cards today. Maybe we'll get a little extra "stuff" to work with later.
We're planning to do a yard sale of our own at the end of April. We'd like to get other families to hold yard sales on the same day. Then we could do fliers with all the addresses to pass out to customers. By having a lot of sales we'd have enough to be worthy of a ride to Blackwater and it would be a win-win situation all round!
Today was also Ruritan BBQ day so we didn't have to fix lunch. It was very good. We went over to the Poker House to eat with everyone who was expecting a dinner. Woody, Austin, Ted, Randy, Paul, Gary, Dad, and all 4 of us were there during the time we spent eating. I'm sure others showed up later on.
It's gotten coldish again; the rain made it dampish too. Good soup weather. Maybe even a fire in the fireplace. We've used it several times this year; it's not a push button thing so we do it wood hauling and newspapers under the logs and all, but I think it makes it even more worth the effort. Those push buttons are nice, but it's like looking at a moving picture. This way makes you want to really sit and let your mind go.
Speaking of mind go, I better get back to work before mine goes!
Good ones to all
