Fathers Day 2007

Since I made breakfast for everyone yesterday, today it was a free-for-all. Lindsey and I had bagels, Danny and Melissa had some apple turnovers he picked up at the store this morning when he went to get ice cream. Afterwards I practiced on the keyboard for a while then laid down for about 10 minutes to make sure my back wouldn't give out on me at church.

I don't know why I get so nervous playing at church. This morning there were more people there including a few visitors with their dads. No one was paying any attention to what I was doing at all. I doubt anyone even heard me. Not that I was expecting silence during "my concert." I'm just afraid I may be doing too much and they would feel like I was an intrusion. Last week there weren't too many people there and I felt like I was providing a service for those who came early and were just sitting there waiting for worship to start. I felt like I was like a radio playing softly with background music. Whatever I do, I know this is my time to play for God, my contribution, my way of worshiping. At the same time I want it to be looked at as a positive thing for BBC, not for my glory, but to help set the mood for people to come in and worship. I am nothing but a servant. And through my fear I feel a need to do this; I feel called. It scares me so much, but I still have to do it.

After church we ate lunch over at Randy and Lynne's house. She had her parents over and of  course Randy's parents were there. And me and Melissa and Lindsey went. Danny didn't feel good at all so he stayed home. Lynne made a huge lasagna; it was really good, and salad and her very own homemade rolls like Mom makes. They were really great; for a moment I forgot they weren't Mom's! I made Fast and Easy Fruit Cobbler, using cherry filling. Everyone said it was good too. I think when it was all said and done everyone was just about ready for a nap.

Afterwards Mom took Lynne's parents on a tour of the farm in her little golf cart. The girls and I took Daddy home to the Poker house where we let him open our gifts to him. Every once in a while we'd see the little cart go cruising by. So funny, like a tour group at a zoo. All in all a good day (so far).

Melissa is doing laundry now and will head back to Richmond shortly. I think she might come back at the end of the month. Lynne's birthday is July 2 so we'll probably do a birthday thing on Sunday. It would work out well.

Speaking of work out I need to force myself to try those therapy exercises again. I hurt so bad now from it I can barely move. I'm going to have a nice talk with them about the new pains they'ver created on Tuesday morning. But for today I'll give it another try.
