Melissa had her 25th birthday on June 4. Luckily she was able to come home and visit that weekend after her trip to Kenya. We had a great time beginning with Happy Hour next door. She and her friend Rob went for a local excursion on Saturday and when they returned we had steak for dinner. Great eats! Sunday morning we all went to church together. Afterwards we went to Olive Garden for her birthday dinner. Of course it was her birthday pick.
The waiter asked if it was a special occasion and everyone pointed Melissa out, saying it was her birthday celebration a day early. She blushed and feigned embarrassment. Thinking they may have forgotten she'd hope to escape before the upcoming singing of the "birthday song." Nope, he didn't forget, coming out at the very last possible moment with his crew of songsters behind, clapping and smiling and tuning up. It was too good! She blushed some more while everyone from the singers to family and friends smiled broadly.
After getting back home we had the birthday cake and present opening event. Lindsey had made a yellow cake with chocolate icing that morning and it was some kind of good! As you can see in the photo I was able to capture the big blow moment! She got lovely gifts too, some especially selected from our yard sale and thrift store excursions. I'm starting to think they're the best kind. So taylored and unique. This year shabby chic produced two matching blue crystal bookends, and a Guy Harvey teak playing card box. She got cool new gifts too like a season pass to Busch Gardens and jewelry. Grammy and Gramps sent flowers that got there on Tuesday so the party just kept going for a few days. She was super surprised to get those!
Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Happy Birthday Sweetie! ~ LJ
