God's Plan

Yesterday I started my new part time job as a church secretary. I think I've been preparing for this one all my life. Everything that I learned doing newsletters and bulletins at Blackwater is paying off. All the things I'd wanted to do I can do now; these people are delighted to have me work with them.

When I got there yesterday I was informed that they'd just ordered me a new computer with 20" monitor. My goodness! And later they said they were going to paint my office to brighten it up. Need something? Here's the credit card - get whatever you need.

I had left this job up to God from the beginning. There were about 200 people that had applied and I figured I may be wasting my time applying. I mean, there are younger, faster, more up-to-date techno wonders walking the streets now. But I like church work and went to the interview anyway. That was in July. I relaxed and just figured if they wanted me, fine and if not, fine. It was in God's hands. I guess He wanted me there.

Like Gideon and the fleece in the Bible I'd gotten my sign, but the day before I went I asked for another sign. Now, in my past I've had several occassions where I'd go to a new job and find out they were going to pay me more than we'd discussed. So, on the day before I started I asked God to give me another sign and that if it were truly His plan for me to be there, they'd pay more money. And that's a fact, Jack! The wonderful gracious Lord gave me my second sign! So now I know I'm where I need to be and I'm ready to serve Him and the good folks at the church the best that I can.

It's so exciting to see God in action; when we open our eyes and really watch for His workings around us we find that it's more than just waking up to another beautiful sunrise. He's busy everywhere. Isn't it good that man is not in charge!? Go take on the day and watch for His glory.
