Good Thrifting Day

It seems like it's been forever since we last took a day for ourselves. Lately, our ventures out have been based around a doctor visit or a medical test. I'm so sick of those.

Actually this morning I just went out to the shop and asked Danny to get our bags out of the attic - I was going away for a few days. After his mouth closed he said give him a few minutes and he'd come in, clean up and go with me. I was going to go to Oriental NC and just chill.

Then I came in and looked at the weather - damn, it's spose to rain. Cancel. Why do I try?

So he says he was thinking about just going out for lunch and a thrift store or two anyway. So here we went.

We have gotten much more selective now. We went to 3 different stores and at the 1st one I only got 4 things, a pretty toothpick holder for my holiday table (the whole family is 'pickers'), several new video tapes, a book, and a throw blanket with Orange County Choppers (from the TV show).  He looked at an office chair, but then thought better of it. We'll find one somewhere else.

My $5 blanket sells for $70 online. Yes, I think I will, thank you.

Of course at one store Dan found some more Hawaiian shirts. But he's slacked off some - only getting the ones he likes and that fit him. So if he doesn't sell them he'll wear them; if he doesn't wear them, he'll sell them.

Our last store was pretty quick; I was so tired. I came out with a really nice ceramic bowl with snowmen on the sides. I'm thinking popcorn, mashed potatoes, or cookies. I also got a book with cookie cutters called Grandma's Christmas Cookies - that will go to my store.

After our Pollards Chicken late lunch we headed back home. The plan for tomorrow is to start working in the garage to get that ready for putting all our yard sale stuff into one place. I guess said yard sale will not be happening this year at all, not unless the one who wants it is willing to sacrafice a half a hunting day one Saturday. We'll have to see how that one plays out.

But today was a good day. We still have room to put the stuff we bought and then some, so we're good to go!
