I have gotten very brave and added several of my crochet items to my store, Eccentric Thrifter. I know I’ve had my toboggan hats on there, but these are different. These are my crocheted washcloths and dish towels with newly crocheted toppers. There’s something unsettling about putting yourself out there like that. There are so many talented artists these days; what if nobody likes my stuff? What if they think it looks lame? What if it’s not good enough?
This is different from everything else. This is not my normal ‘comfort zone.’ I’m going in the public with what I do. I feel confident about my hats. I’ve had lots of compliments and requests over the years. But this is my ‘stepping out zone,’ relatively new territory. I’ve been making these things several years. People around here like them. My Mom loves the washcloths…just the right size, perfect for dishes, perfect for removing makeup. She loves them not because they are from me; she loves them because they work! I’m sticking my neck out. I just hope I don’t come back with a nub.
