A Different Kind of Birthday

It was quite a birthday I had this year, so different from most. My day started with the sale of a Hawaiian shirt from my Cabana Threads store. That’s always an awesome way to begin any day. After mailing the shirt we set out to find a biscuit for breakfast. We made the mistake of stopping by Hardees but the line was wrapped around the building. Danny said it wasn’t busy inside, but soon discovered he was sadly wrong – the line inside was almost as long so we bolted. I guess everyone likes eating out on Saturday morning. We ended up at the County Grill at the Farmers Market. They were pretty busy too, but we got there during a lull and had no trouble getting our meal. For a change I just had pancakes and sausage (I never eat pancakes out). They weren’t as good as home made but sufficed to meet the need.

It was cold so Mom wasn’t getting out of the house, staying warm and cozy indoors. She had sent me her card and gift when Danny went over to pick up some leftovers for supper the night before. So on our way back home we stopped so I could open it with her. That was actually very nice. I got Danny to document our moment.

In the afternoon I had a delightful talk with Missy so it was almost like her being here. Even Rob took a moment to wish me a happy birthday! Shortly after hanging up Lindsey called (without having gotten my messages) and agreed to meet us later for dinner at Outback. Here was another extremely crowded place. We waited 25 minutes for a table, but then had an outrageously good time. I must say it was well past my usual bedtime by the time we got home. Lindsey documented our Outback moment as well!

All day long I was also checking my Facebook page. I am still overwhelmed at how many people wrote to wish me happy birthday; and it continued for several days afterwards too! I really just never expected anything like that at all!

There was no birthday cake this year, but that was fine. Danny had made some brownies the day before for me. Since Lindsey opened her big mouth and told the waitress it was my birthday they brought me a dish of ice cream with chocolate syrup, singing and clapping all the way, I might add. So really, I lacked nothing. It was all perfect.

I appreciate everyone, family and friend, who made my day so special. I guess it’s not so bad getting old when the silver-lining is so wonderful!
