With Standing Room Only

This week has been fairly stressful. I had to go to the imaging center at the hospital to have an MRI and bone scan of my lower back earlier in the week. I had worried about being able to lay flat long enough for the procedures. Knowing I’d do a lot of walking I also used my cane to take the pressure off my knee. (The pain is not getting better, and I don’t know if it’s coming from back, hip or what other option is available). So seeing the cane they issued me my very first “Fall Risk” bracelet. To say I was bummed is an understatement.

Today I take my packet of images and meet my new spine surgeon to see what he thinks about things. I’m excited and also holding back my expectations since no one else has ever been able to help me. If this guy can’t then I’m probably done with having hope for a future that involves standing for more than 10-15 minutes at a time.

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve watched checkout clerks and think they stand for long expanses at a time and don’t really have any appreciation for that truly wonderful blessing. Standing is so taken for granted. Right now I feel so left out.
